On Friday the 9th of November,2019, In a somewhat cold weather, Students of the Pan African University Institute of Water and Energy Science joined the youth of Tlemcen in a tree planting exercise. Their joint efforts led to the planting of about two thousand (2,000) trees which is a plan for this wet season. It was an exciting event in which participants showed their commitment in protecting the environment and taking action against Climate Change. Trees are very significant for our very existence but human demand for energy and other purposes such as construction and Crop cultivation is increasingly putting pressure on forest covers across the globe. Therefore, in order not to exceed the 2 degrees limits set by the Paris Agreement, the rate of deforestation should be greatly minimized and energy sources diversified. The act of tree planting is thus a sacred duty upon everyone as the world strives to reduce rising temperatures and secure a sustainable future for all and sundry.
