    • Concentrating of Nutrient Content of Urine by Use of Wood Ash
      Occupation Makerere University-Uganda
      Sep 2013
      May 2014
This research was focused on utilization of urine and ash as an alternative agricultural soil amendment. A semi-solid urine fertilizer was formulated by mixing human urine with wood ash as final product that would be easy to transport and apply on agricultural field. Urine was collected from a sanitation facility at College of Engineering Design Art and Technology (CEDAT) and formulated into a semi-solid urine fertilizer. The research focused on three major elements that is; Potassium, Phosphorous and Nitrogen. Tests were carried out for different samples. Tests forpH determination of the samples, total Nitrogen, total Phosphorous and Potassium were carried out. The pH of ash and the mixture was measured using soil to distilled water ratio of 1:2.5 with a pH meter (METTLER TOLEDO) after one hour of mechanical shaking. The total nitrogen, total phosphorous, potassium was determined in accordance to Okalebo et al., (2002). We hope to publish a paper from this project after implementation of the fertilizer.
